Prior to your Semipermant make up appointment, refrain from alcohol and caffeine for 48 hours pre procedure. This can increase bleeding risk and decrease pigment retention.
Avoid AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), retinol creams or any anti-aging creams 4 weeks prior to appointment, these can cause premature fading.
No facial botox within 2 weeks of appointment
Do not wax, tweeze or shave brows prior to appointment, I will do so at your appointment time.
Avoid aspirin 24hrs prior to procedure. If you are taking blood thinners, you must clear this procedure with your physician prior to stopping any medications.
Post Procedure Instructions
Do not touch your eyebrows except to cleanse and apply moisturizer. Always wash hands prior to reduce the risk of infection.
For the remainder of the day after your appointment, be prepared to blot your brows. You may notice clear or yellow drainage from your brow area, this is lymphatic fluid. With a clean tissue, dab your brow areas to remove this fluid. Build up can interfere with healing and pigment retention.
Avoid makeup, water and cleansers to the brow area for the first 7-10 days except during brow wash.
You may wash your brows one time in the morning and one time at night daily for the first 7-10 days. Gently cleanse the brow area with antibacterial soap, such as dial. Moisten the brow area, apply dial to fingertips and rub each brow lightly in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly and blot dry with a clean paper towel.
Using a q-tip or clean hands, apply a small amount of healing ointment to your brows throughout the day for the first 10-14 days.
Maintain enough ointment on your brows to moisten them. Do not oversaturate your brows, too much ointment can cause scabs to lift prematurely and disrupt the healing process.
Do not wipe healing ointment from your brows, allow it to soak in.
Avoid excessive sweating or saunas. The salt in your sweat can extract pigments from your brows. If you do begin to sweat, lightly dab the moisture from your brows with a clean tissue.
Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or tanning beds for 3-4 weeks.
Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
Do not rub, pick or scratch your brows. Let all scabs fall off naturally. Picking at your brows can cause scaring and loss of pigment.
Healing: What to expect
Day 1-2: The color of your brows are 20-40% darker than the healed result. They may be sore with mild swelling and redness, but this will go away. Keep the brow area clean, apply healing balm and do not touch otherwise.
Day 3-7: The top layers of the skin will begin to shed and cause excess pigment to flake away. You will notice some scabbing and light itching. Do not pick scabs or scratch the area. The color may appear dull and gray, this is completely normal. Continue daily brow maintenance.
Day 8-10: Flaking should be in the final stages. Color may appear gray, light or blotchy in some areas. Do not panic, this is normal. Continue daily brow maintenance.
Day 11-14: Skin begins to take on its normal characteristics. You may now stop daily brow regimen.
Skin will continue to heal, and color will begin to return. You may schedule your touch up between 6-8 weeks. Your skin should be fully healed at that time.
